Emoji Story Prompt Generator
Three random emojis, one story. Use it for creative writing, ESL classes, Pictionary-style games or to beat writerβs block.
How to use emoji story prompts
Generate a prompt, then write a short story, poem or paragraph that includes all the emojis in order. Because the emojis are random, the combinations are often absurd β a π¦, a π and a π» β and that is where the creativity comes from. The names appear under the emojis so younger students and language learners always know what they are looking at.
Classroom ideas
- Five-minute warm-up: one prompt, everyone writes, two volunteers read aloud.
- Emoji charades: act out the three emojis in order, no talking.
- Chain story: each student adds one sentence using the next emoji.
- ESL vocabulary: write a sentence per emoji using the Unicode name.
Flags and abstract symbols are excluded from the prompt pool so every emoji is something you can write a scene about.
